Hundreds of toys and other children’s products are being recalled due to safety concerns. Where do they wind up? They are being resold online through various auction sites. And guess who is involved. You guessed it,
big old ebay.
If they are being recalled, how are they getting back on the street? And who is to blame?
Here is
a study done by Keri Brown Kirschman from the University of Dayton.
Out of 141 recalled items she found them in 144 auctions over 30 days. And the auction giant says they don't allow it, but they are having a hard time enforcing the rules.
Its like
WebStalker said in his earlier post about ebay, they are so big they can't control their own machine.
To me that is no excuse. These companies that can't police their own business need to be held accountable. I bet if you started fining them daily for each count, they would quickly put measures in place to fix this. More action needs to be taken.
These are our kids lives we are talking about. Not some pair of sneakers that you bought a month ago and now they are falling apart.
I am glad to see some people are taking action. Just last month
Adrian and Michael Powell, of Fontana, Calif. filed a class-action lawsuit against Mattel for Lead Testing.
Here is a list of
Recalled Toys from Mattel. And a
Fisher Price recall list. Anyone know of any more, post them in the comments. I will add them here later or compile them to a new post for others to easily check.
